Verso University Presents: French Wine Theory

Join us for a deep dive into French Wine Knowledge from certified sommelier Barbie Messa. This class will meet on Thursdays, February 8-29, from 2 to 3 pm, in the Brooks Program Room.

As one would prepare for the theory portion of a sommelier examination, each week we'll focus on a specific region, highlighting its history, geography, specific grapes, and producers of note. In this four-session course, we will focus on Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Rhône Valley, concluding with a tasting portion in the final class. Having solid background knowledge in wine will not only make you more confident when purchasing wine, but it will also enrich your tasting experience!

Note:  It is expected participants can attend all four sessions. There is a fee of $50 for this program, which covers registration and materials fees for all sessions. Participants must be age 21 or older.

About our Verso University instructor:

Barbie Messa earned a doctorate in cognitive psychology from Columbia University before embarking on her sommelier career. She went from teaching and studying memory to educating guests and restaurant staff about wine in award-winning wine programs such as Blue Hill at Stone Barns and Glenmere Mansion.
