Learn how to knit socks from the top down with The Westport Library's own resident knitting expert, Director of Youth Services Mary Parmelee!
Prerequisite skills include casting on, the knit stitch, and the purl stitch.
This class will meet on eight consecutive Tuesdays in March and April (March 4, 11, 18, and 25; April 1, 8, 15, and 22) from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
Registration includes all eight classes in the series.
Choose between knitting a regular-weight sock or a worsted-weight sock to wear in slippers or around the house. Following registration, a supply list will be sent to you with information covering the size knitting needle and weight of yarn to bring for your selection. Patterns will be distributed at the first class.
Depending on knitting expertise and the available time spent on this project out of class, participants may not require the full eight weeks to complete a pair of socks. The allotted eight weeks will allow participants to make mistakes or even miss a class and still have the opportunity to make up missed lessons.
