About the Museum
The New Britain Museum of American Art is one of a kind. As the first museum in the U.S. dedicated solely to American art, it features over 9,000 works spanning three centuries — from colonial portraits to contemporary pieces, highlighted by a renowned collection of American Impressionism, Ashcan School, and Thomas Hart Benton's The Arts of Life in America murals. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and community engagement through events like First Fridays, the museum offers family-friendly spaces, a café, and a store, all within an award-winning building, making it a significant cultural destination.
