Art Tour Details

Thursday, February 12, 1:30-2:30 pm 

Please arrive 10 minutes early for check-in at museum entrance at 600 Main Street, Hartford.

Enjoy a one-hour docent-led tour of collection highlights at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art! While at the museum, visit the special painting and photography exhibits on view as well as the Wadsworth’s American, European, and Contemporary Art Collections. Be sure to stop at the Cabinet of Art and Curiosity exhibit which holds over 200 awe-inspiring objects filling an entire gallery.

Optional: Please email Joanne Connon at jconnon@westportlibrary.org if you would like to enjoy lunch at an area restaurant (walking distance) with the group before the tour.

Parking & Accessibility

Metered street parking is available around the museum; please pay attention to signage regarding parking restrictions. Parking is also available for museum patrons at the Front Street South Garage at 62 Front Street Crossing, one block behind the museum. Bring your parking ticket to be stamped at our ticketing counter, and it’s $3 for the day per vehicle.

If you prefer a flat entrance with no stairs, please use the accessible Avery Memorial entrance, located at 29 Atheneum Square near the corner of Prospect. The Main Street entrance includes stairs and is not wheelchair-accessible. The Wadsworth has a few wheelchairs available on a first-come first served basis. If anyone has mobility concerns or if there are accommodations that would be helpful, please contact Joanne Connon at jconnon@westportlibrary.org.

Important Information About Verso University Classes

  • Classes are usually structured as a consecutive series.
  • Class size is often limited.
  • Each series has a one-time fee registration fee covering all classes in the series.
  • Registration is mandatory.
  • The Westport Library wants to ensure that all interested students are able to participate in Verso University courses. If the registration fee is a barrier to entry for you, please contact JConnon@westportlibrary.org.

Verso University is the Library’s lifelong learning and education initiative, serving up year-round offerings of classes, workshops, and lectures designed to further education and learning.
