In this workshop, participants will get an overview of the documentary filmmaking process from concept to completion. They will learn the necessary components of documentary storytelling and how to shape an idea into a nonfiction narrative.

Lessons include but are not limited to: deciding on the scope of a project, preparing to fundraise, crew needs, and postproduction needs. One class will feature a workshop on setting up and conducting a documentary interview. Participants are encouraged, though not required, to come to class with an idea they’d like to develop.

The class will meet on Tuesdays, May 7-28, 4-5:30 pm, in the Brooks Place program room

Note: Class size is limited. There is a registration fee of $25, and registration is for all sessions. The Westport Library wants to ensure that all interested students are able to participate in Verso University courses. If the registration fee is a barrier to entry for you, please contact [email protected].
