In this hands-on Verso University workshop, participants will learn the basics of video and audio editing with the industry-standard Adobe Premiere Pro software.
The class will meet for four sessions, from 4-5:30 pm on Tuesdays, January 16 through February 6. The course will meet in The Library's McCall Conference Room, on the upper level.
The workshop will include media management, optimizing footage, scene sequencing, cutting a dynamic scene, and building a rich soundscape. Participants will also learn how to put titles on their projects and how basic effects and color correction can be used.
No prior experience is necessary! Participants can bring their own footage or use footage provided by the instructor. Note: Class size is limited. There is a registration fee of $25, and registration is for all sessions. The Westport Library wants to ensure that all interested students are able to participate in Verso University courses. Requirements: a laptop with an up-to-date version of Adobe Premiere Pro (participants can opt for a 30-day free trial of the software).
About our Verso University Instructor:
Julie Casper Roth is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and artist. She is a recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a NYSCA grant, and is a two-time finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. She worked as a director/producer for WMHT-PBS and has taught documentary filmmaking at Skidmore College and the University at Albany. Casper Roth currently teaches Communication Arts at CT State-Norwalk.
