Worldwide Knit in Public Day

Saturday, June 13
10 am- pm
Come to the Riverwalk outside The Westport Library to celebrate Worldwide Knit in Public Day from 10 am to 1 pm! Stitchers (knitting, crochet, embroidery, etc.) are welcome to sit in the shade along the bank of the river from 10 am to 1 pm. In case of inclement weather, we will move inside.
Outdoor furniture is available but limited, so feel free to bring you own chair if you prefer.
Why You Should Come
As a library, we’re inclusive — if you don't knit, no problem! Aside from knitting, feel free to bring your crocheting, your embroidery, your mending, or any other textile crafts you enjoy ... or just bring yourself! Come spend time outside in a beautiful location where we can chat about crafting, books, movies, sports, streaming services, and whatever else tickles our fancy — or just enjoy the peace, quiet, and beauty of nature as you take part in an international community!
About International Knite in Public Day
International Knit in Public Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of June every year. The objective of the holiday is to showcase knitting as an enjoyable activity to partake in — for all ages, not just doting grandparents looking to make a sweater for their darling grandchildren. The day brings with it a sense of community for knitters, who often celebrate together by knitting in public spaces to make their hobby more visible and accessible to the public.
