Drew Heilpern from Summit Educational Group will offer expert, in-depth information and guidance regarding the SAT and ACT, differences between the tests and how to decide where to focus, timing of taking the tests, test preparation, and understanding the test-optional trend.

The Westport Library and Staples High School Counseling Department are pleased to present College Night for the Visual and Performing Arts. We have a wonderful panel of experts lined up to discuss choosing the right-fit college and arts program, the application process and timelines, portfolios and auditions, and what to expect as a college student majoring in the arts.
At the end of the presentation, there will be a Q&A session with the panelists and recent Staples graduates who are currently pursuing the arts in college.

More and more students are exploring universities outside the United States. There are many reasons for this: a sense of adventure, lower tuition costs, the ability to complete a bachelor’s degree in less time, and relative transparency in the admissions process.
We are excited to have a panel of admissions professionals from several international universities who will join us to discuss differences in the application process, academic expectations, student life, and more. Recent Staples graduates who have pursued their undergraduate degree abroad will be on hand to discuss their experiences and at the end of the presentation there will be a Q&A session with panelists and students.
The transition from high school to college is significant for all students, but for students with disabilities, there are additional considerations and steps to navigate. Although the disability services system is very different from the one they knew in high school, with the proper preparation, students can enjoy success!
Author and university learning consultant Elizabeth C. Hamblet will explain how the system for accommodations works at college, what is commonly available, and share other information to help make sure students are ready.
The Westport Library and Staples High School Counseling Department are pleased to present Understanding College Financial Aid and Paying for College with expert college planning and financial aid consultant Bill Smith.
Smith will discuss assessing potential eligibility for need- and merit-based aid, how to identify colleges that might meet need and offer merit aid, and creating a plan to pay for college.
This program will be geared toward all 9th-11th grade students and families, including those in the early stages of the college exploration process, at varying levels of need. While it may seem early for some, we are mindful of the complexities of the college search process when finances are a consideration as well as the need for students and families to have realistic college conversations based on accurate information.
The Staples School Counseling Department is offering an opportunity for parents and guardians to learn about how to use its college planning software program, Scoir.
Led by school counselor Tom Brown, parents will be given a tour of various features of Scoir. Topic areas include parent portal overview, college search, college profiles, comparison, and other research tools. The goal is to inform parents of the resources available within Scoir to help them better support their children in their post-high school planning. Parents may bring their own devices to follow along if they wish.
