The Westport Library's Malloy Fund for the Arts presents best-selling author Amor Towles in conversation with writer and editor Stephanie Klose about his career and collection of novels that have captivated millions of readers around the world.
Since 2002, thanks to the generosity of Westport artist Susan Malloy, the Malloy Lecture in the Arts brought some of the world's most extraordinary creative voices to Westport, including Richard Butler, Kelli O'Hara, Salman Rushdie, and Roz Chast, for thought-provoking, engaging conversations that captivate audiences of all ages.

About the Speakers
Born and raised in the Boston area, Amor Towles graduated from Yale College and received an MA in English from Stanford University. His thesis at Stanford, a short story cycle called The Temptations of Pleasure, was published in 1989 in Paris Review No. 112. After working as an investment professional for over 20 years, he now devotes himself full time to writing. His novels have collectively sold more than eight million copies and been translated into more than 40 languages. Mr. Towles is the 2023 recipient of the Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award. In 2025 he received the 2025 Nashville Public Library Literary Award. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and two children.
Stephanie Klose is a freelance writer and editor who previously worked as a reviews editor for multiple publications, including Library Journal. She is a member of the judging committee for the Westport Prize for Literature and has been on juries for the Bram Stoker Awards three times.
