George C. Siougas’ The One Note Man tells the story of a musician caught between staying in his comfort zone, or stepping out and changing his life forever.
Set at Christmas time, the film takes you on a whirlwind adventure of a bassoonist whose routine never strays, playing a single note in a classical orchestra day in day out. This heartwarming short film continues to make headlines at festivals across the globe and is now Oscar- and BAFTA-qualified after winning the grand prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and its acceptance into The Norwich Film Festival. The film stars Jason Watkins (The Crown), Louisa Clein (Emmerdale), Crystal Yu (Dr. Who), Paul Barber (The Full Monty), and the voice of Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings).
This is the Westport premiere of the Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying short film. Westport resident Rita Marcocci is an executive producer on the film. Her female-owned production studio produced the film with UK-based Cusp Films and Moseley Road Productions. This is their first international collaboration.
McKellen has filmed an introduction to be shown prior to the event, and there will be a talk-back following the film.
