SHORT CUTS Film Festival, Part Three: International Narrative Films II

Join us on Thursday, January 18, at 7 pm in The Westport Library’s Trefz Forum for the SHORT CUTS Film Festival’s final installment of international narrative short films, curated from the 2023 prestigious Tribeca Film Festival (TFF.)
Screenings include:
- TFF's Best Narrative Film, winner Chat Mort (Dead Cat) (Canada), a humorous look at parents trying to protect their daughter from the truth about her cat.
- Sealed Off (China, Macau, U.S.), from 22-year old filmmaker Tianyu Jiang, set in 1940s-occupied Shanghai during an air-raid lockdown.
- Et Maintenant? (What Next?) (France): A ballet dancer ages out after 30 years. What is next for him?
- Shadow Brother Sunday (U.S.): Sibling rivalry, by award-winning actor/director Alden Ehrenreich.
- Blood (Australia) by Vathana Suganya Suppiah, a sensitive look into Tamil customs around fertility and menstruation.

The screenings will be followed by a conversation about the films between film director/producer Jacob Krupnick and festival producer Nancy Diamond.
SHORT CUTS kicked off November 9 with a series of narrative short films and continued December 14 with documentary shorts. The festival is in its 14th year in Westport.
